Let’s Walk Together Toward a Brighter Future
Welcome to My Website
Psychotherapy is not about focusing on the problems in life, but more about solution building. Although it acknowledges present problems and past causes, it predominantly explores your current resources and future hopes -helping you to look forward and use your own strengths to achieve your goals. It works by helping you to overcome problems without tackling them directly-using solution building concepts to foster change. Psychotherapy helps you to develop a set of clear, concise and realistic goals.
Kim Shaffer, LCPC empathizes with your struggles and believes that you are equipped with the skills to create change in your life, though you may need help refining and identifying those skills. It is also her belief that you know at least on some level the change needed in your life. Therefore, she is professionally trained to help you clarify your goals and guide you to see what is working for you, as well as, encourage you to experiment with new approaches to your problems.
Kim Shaffer is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 20+ years of experience. Her theoretical approach to counseling is “multi-modal” with strong solution focused and cognitive behavioral influence to empower you and motivate change.

My name is Kim Shaffer. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have a Masters Degree in Counselor Education. I offer individual, couples and family therapy at my private practice located at 2025 Glenwood Ave, Hermon, ME., I have over 20+ years of counseling experience in a variety of settings which include, but are not limited to: a psychiatric hospital, schools, county jail, community colleges, mental health agencies and private practice. Among my areas of expertise are the treatment of depression, partner relational conflict, PTSD, anxiety, sexual disorders, ADHD, and co-occurring disorders.
I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Research consistently reveals that the most important indication of retention and success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist. My clients tend to be high functioning, motivated, and committed to making change in their lives. I love providing them with the tools and technique so that they can reach their potential and ultimately stop coming to therapy. I know your time and money are valuable so I try to be as structured and goal oriented as possible.
